Greek-style salad with spiced lamb patties

Serves: 2


For the burgers

  • 500g minced lamb
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp ground chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for frying

For the salad

  • 2 handfuls salad leaves
  • 3 ripe tomatoes, quartered
  • ½ small cucumber, sliced
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 10 Kalamata black olives
  • 2 blocks halloumi cheese, each sliced into 4

For the dressing

  • 3 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper


Start this recipe by preparing the patties. Mix all the ingredients together (except the oil) and form into 6 patties. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side. When ready, remove from the pan and quickly brown the sliced Halloumi cheese on both sides for 1 minute. Meanwhile, prepare the salad. Place the mixed salad leaves into 2 deep salad bowls. Arrange the tomato quarters, sliced cucumber and onions and black olives on half of the salad. Arrange the patties and the grilled halloumi cheese slices on the other side of the salad. Mix together the salad dressing ingredients and pour over the salad.
