Sweet and spicy pork steaks with warm potato salad

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. dark soy sauce
  • Juice ½ lemon
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. chili sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 4 thick cut pork loin steaks
  • 200g new potatoes, cut in half
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped and fried
  • Few gherkins, sliced (Kuhne)
  • 4 tbsp. honey mustard dressing (Kuhne)
  • 2 tbsp. crème fraiche
  • 1 corn on the cob, cut into slices

Method

Whisk together the soy sauce, lemon juice, brown sugar, chili sauce and garlic powder. Add in the pork chops and coat completely and allow to marinate. Meanwhile, cook the potatoes in salted boiling water for 10-15 minutes or until soft. Drain and cook then place into a large bowl with the bacon, gherkins, 3 tbsp. honey and mustard dressing and the crème fraiche and mix together well. Brush the corn slices with the remaining 1 tbsp. dressing and bake in a hot oven till the edges start to brown. Grill the marinated chops for 5 minutes until soft and cooked through and serve immediately with the potatoes and corn on the cob.

Method

Ħawwad flimkien iz-zalza tas-sojja, il-meraq tal-lumi, iz-zokkor ismar, iz-zalza tal-bżar pikkanti u t-trab tat-tewm. Żid l-isteaks tal-majjal u iksi kompletament u ħallih jimmarina. Sadanittant, sajjar il-patata f’ilma jagħli bil-melħ għal 10-15-il minuta jew sakemm tkun ratba. Ixxotta u sajjar, imbagħad poġġi ġo skutella kbira mal-bejken, il-ħjar żgħir, 3 imgħaref għasel u d-dressing tal-mustarda u l-Crème fraîche u ħawwad flimkien sew. Ippinzella l-corn on the con bid-dressing li jifdal u aħmi f’forn jaħraq sakemm it-truf jibdew isiru. Ixwi l-isteaks immarinati għal 5 minuti sakemm isiru u servi immedjatament mal-patata u l-corn on the cob.
