Apple and berry mulled wine

Ingredients
- 1 x 750ml bottle Merlot wine
- 500ml good apple juice
- 50g muscovado sugar
- 3 tbsp liqueur
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 cloves
- 2 star anise
- Fresh grated nutmeg
- 2 red apples, sliced with skin on
Method
To make the mulled wine, place the wine, sugar, apple juice, cinnamon sticks and star anise into a large saucepan and heat gently for 15 minutes without boiling. Add in the apple slices, frozen mixed fruits and liqueur and heat for a further 5 minutes. Serve whilst still warm.
