Festive sausage pin wheels

Ingredients

  • 500g puff pastry
  • 1 jar cranberry sauce
  • 1 packet frozen Cumberland sausages, defrosted (Dewfresh)
  • 1 granny smith apple, grated
  • ½ tsp dried Sage
  • 2 tbsp. chopped pistachios
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp. grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp. sesame seeds

Method

Remove the sausage skin and mash the sausage meat filling with a fork in a bowl. Mix in the grated apple, sage, chopped pistachios and Parmesan cheese. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to a rectangle with a thickness of 5 mm. Spread a thin layer of the cranberry sauce on top, followed by the sausage meat. Roll up the pastry tightly like a Swiss roll and chill for 30 minutes. Cut in 1 cm slices and place flat on a baking tray. Brush the top lightly with the beaten egg and sprinkle with the sesame seeds. Bake at 175`c for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  • ġobon parmiġġjan maħkuk
  • żerriegħa tal-ġulġlien

Method

Neħħi l-ġilda taz-zalzett u għaffeġ il-mili tal-laħam taz-zalzett bil-furketta ġo skutella. Ħallat it-tuffieħ maħkuk, is-salvja, il-pistaċċi mfarrka u l-ġobon parmiġġjan. Irrombla l-għaġina sfiljurata fuq wiċċ bi ftit dqiq u fforma f’rettanglu bi ħxuna ta’ 5mm. Ifrex saff irqiq taz-zalza tal-cranberry fuqha u wara l-laħam taz-zalzett. Irrombla l-għaġina sewwa bħal Swiss roll u kessaħ għal 30 minuta. Qatta’ fi flieli ta’ 1ċm u poġġihom ċatti fuq trej tal-ħami. Iksi l-wiċċ ħafif bil-bajd imħabbat u roxx biż-żerriegħa tal-ġulġlien. Sajjar f’forn b’temperatura ta’ 175°C għal 20-25 minuta jew sakemm ikunu kulur kannella u dehbi.
