Baked tortillas with bacon and Cheddar cheese

Serves: 5

Ingredients

  • 5 soft flour tortillas (DISCOVERY)
  • 1 tub amartriciana sauce (JOSEFA)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 400g minced pork
  • 200ml milk
  • 200g Cheddar cheese, grated
  • Freshly ground pepper

Method

Start by frying the garlic and onion in a pan with the oil, for a few minutes till the onion is soft. Add the chopped pepper and cook for 3 minutes. Add the minced pork and brown well. Add the amartriciana sauce, milk and freshly ground pepper and cook for 5 more minutes . Take 1 soft flour tortilla and place in a round earthenware dish. Cover with 1/5 of the prepared sauce, and then with 1/5 of the grated cheese. Repeat this process 4 more times till you have used all for tortillas, sauce and cheese. Place in the oven at 200`c for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. When cooked, leave the lasagne to settle for 5 minutes before serving with a nice crispy salad.

  • 1 skutella zalza amatriciana (JOSEFA)
  • 1 basla mqattgħa fin
  • 3 sinniet tewm mgħaffġa
  • 1 bżaru aħmar imqatta’
  • 1 mgħarfa żejt taż-żebbuġa
  • 400g ikkapuljat tal-majjal
  • 200ml ħalib
  • 200g ġobon Cheddar maħkuk
  • bżar mitħun frisk

Method

Ibda billi taqli t-tewm u l-basal f’taġen għal ftit minuti sakemm tirtab il-basla. Żid il-bżaru aħmar imqatta’ u sajjar għal 3 minuti. Itfa’ l-ikkapuljat tal-majjal u sajjar sakemm jieħu l-kulur. Żid iz-zalza amatriciana, il-ħalib u l-bżar mitħun frisk u sajjar għal 5 minuti oħra. Poġġi waħda mit-tortillas f’kontenitur tond taċ-ċaqquf. Iksiha b’1/5 taz-zalza li tkun ippreparajt, imbagħad itfa’ 1/5 tal-ġobon maħkuk. Irrepeti l-proċess għal 4 darbiet oħra sakemm tkun użajt it-tortillas, iz-zalza u l-ġobon kollu. Poġġi d-dixx fil-forn f’temperatura ta’ 200oC u sajjar għal 20 minuta jew sakemm il-wiċċ jiħmar. Meta jsir, ħalli l-lażanja toqgħod għal 5 minuti qabel ma sserviha ma’ ftit insalata.
