Croque monsieur with pears and smoked turkey

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 sandwich loaf
  • Unsalted butter
  • 6 slices smoked turkey
  • 300g grated gruyere cheese
  • 1 can poached pears
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Salad leaves to serve

Method

Drain the pears, slice thinly and put on kitchen paper to dry. Take the bread slices and cut into discs with a pastry cutter. Butter the bread generously and spread lightly with cranberry sauce. Put the pears on half of the sandwiches, top up with the gruyere, smoked turkey and some more cheese. Close the sandwiches and press, butter lightly on the outside and cook in a pan over moderate heat until golden. Top up with the remaining cheese and place under the grill until melted. Serve with side salad
